For more than 100 years, the Minnesota Daily has served as a central and invaluable part of the University of Minnesota community. As one of the largest college newspapers in the nation, and one of the very few that are entirely student-operated, we are proud to provide relevant news and in-depth reporting to the campus community.

With the help of positive mentors and financial contributors, the Minnesota Daily Alumni Association is able to provide future Daily student-employees the same unparalleled training so many before them received. For our student staffers, the Minnesota Daily is the premiere training ground for successful careers in journalism, as well as management and advertising.

What Your Gift Can Do

The  Daily is central to the lives of thousands of students, staff, faculty, and visitors to the University of Minnesota campus. By supporting the Daily, you can make a far-reaching impact. Your tax-deductible contribution also supports the training of students who will become our next generation of professionals in the journalism field. It helps to build and sustain the Daily’s reputation for excellence.

In 2004, a scholarship fund was established to provide scholarships for top student staffers for decades to come. Providing scholarships to outstanding Daily employees is one of MDAA’s key functions, made possible by the generous donations of alumni and other supporters. Since 2004, the MDAA has awarded scholarships to more than 20 Daily staffers. Each cycle begins with a workshop on resume writing for scholarship applicants, but also for any staff members who want tips on cover letters and resumes, particularly as they get ready to graduate. Alumni facilitate the workshop and provide specific feedback for those who bring resumes along.

You can also designate a gift to support the ongoing activities for the Minnesota Daily Alumni Association, such as our programs in student mentoring, professional networking, social events, and alumni outreach. These activities are also important to maintaining a connection with students at the Daily and supporting scholarship fundraising opportunities.

Your donations are appreciated, and all proceeds will be used towards scholarships and advancements for the Daily. Designate Fund 1269 for ongoing activities or Fund 1915 for scholarship funds.
